A Modern Transitional Transformation
Cypress, Texas | Residential Renovation | Approximately 2,500–2,800 SF
Kerstin House is a thoughtful residential transformation located in Cypress, Texas, where timeless architectural details meet contemporary living. Designed for a family of five, the project reimagines the existing home through a refined Modern Transitional approach, creating a harmonious balance between classic elegance, modern simplicity, and everyday functionality.
The design focuses on redefining the home's most important living spaces while preserving a sense of warmth, comfort, and architectural continuity. Carefully integrated wall moldings, sophisticated material selections, soft neutral tones, and layered textures establish a cohesive design language that flows naturally throughout the residence.
At the heart of the home, the living room is transformed through a redesigned fireplace, introducing a stronger architectural focal point that brings character, proportion, and visual balance to the space. The kitchen is reconfigured with extended cabinetry, an enlarged island, and a newly designed pantry, enhancing both functionality and the connection between the family's gathering areas.
The renovation also extends beyond the interior. An expanded outdoor living area strengthens the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces, creating new opportunities for entertaining, relaxation, and family interaction. The primary bedroom is also reimagined as a more intimate and sophisticated retreat, continuing the home's refined architectural identity.
Building upon the home's updated flooring, the design introduces a consistent palette of materials, finishes, and architectural details that unifies the existing structure with its newly transformed spaces.
Kerstin House represents an approach to renovation where thoughtful design does more than update a home — it elevates the way a family experiences it. Through the balance of timeless detailing and contemporary expression, the project creates a residence that feels elegant, welcoming, and naturally connected to the people who call it home.
